Roscommon County Council has developed a Repair Directory for the county, offering a major boost to reuse and repair in the region. This is an important element of establishing what services already exists in the county and in their promotion.
Furthermore the research for this directory has acted as a mapping exercise and is an important in setting in forming the groundwork for the feasibility study conducted by Rediscovery Centre in Ballymun.
The local authority advertised in local papers for repair/ reuse service providers to make themselves known. The information was checked and collated and permission was acquired to include their details. The local authority also liaised with community groups to return information on local repair services.
Repairs relating to shoes, clothes alterations, electrical repairs to home appliances, furniture repairs, computer repairs, mobile phone repairs, clock and watch repairs are typical repair services included in the directory.
Originally launched in October 2016, the Repair and Reuse Directory, printed in booklet format, was made available in our public offices and libraries. This was also distributed through local community groups such as Tidy Towns. The 2nd edition of the directory, released in April 2017, is now available at these same locations or can be downloaded below.
