This initiative arose from interaction between Kerry County Council & the Listowel Tidy Towns Group.
Listowel Tidy Towns are very progressive with members participating in Master Composter training and other environmental programmes offered by Kerry County Council. They are regularly trying to improve their Tidy Towns annual programme and in 2013 they wanted to expand the waste minimisation category so they invited Kerry County Council & the Southern Region Waste Management Office to undertake an environmental review of 3 local businesses: a busy deli/cafeteria; a well established B&B and a laundrette.
Waste, energy & water audits were undertaken, reports written for the businesses and an environmental improvement programme is now underway.
