Many local authorities are very active in food waste prevention, especially those working closely with Stop Food Waste (www.stopfoodwaste.ie).
This work has been intensified in 2014 – the European Year against Food Waste.
Much of the work relates to awareness raising by the trained staff of the local authorities involved and where better to raise awareness about food waste than at food related events (of which there are many every year all over Ireland).
In 2014 the LAPN local authorities are focusing especially at the food related evens in their regions.
