In 2016 Carlow County Council worked with Clonegal Tidy Towns in putting together a Food Waste Festival in the grounds of Huntingdon Castle. Clonegal Tidy Towns is a very successful and proactive group who have been within 1 mark of the National Tidy Towns title.
Activities that took place at the event included:
- Food Waste Cookery Demonstration with Local Cooks (chef from local famed restaurant Sha-Roe has committed to giving a cookery demonstration)
- Demonstration talk on avoiding household hazardous waste (& dissemination of the EPAs Greener Cleaning and Greener Gardening Booklets)
- Harvest Swapping Event
- Waste Prevention Information Stand
- Master Composter stand
The greening of this even was a great success and other Tidy Towns/Community Groups were invited to attend the event to learn and replicate.
