New Drinking Water Fountains

Prevention for Local Authorities

Monaghan County Council  has installed three new water fountains with LAPN funding to promote reuse and to prevent single use plastic waste. These were installed outside the library building in Monaghan Town, outside the Oakland Recreation Centre in Glaslough village, and by Lough Muckno, Castleblayney. Following on from this, the council is continuing this work, adding more refill points in public buildings and suitable outdoor locations.

This work by Monaghan County Council features in a new guide for providing easy access to free water refill points, to try to change how water is consumed when people are out and about – a simple, positive climate action. This guide was developed by LAPN and a number of local authorities, including Monaghan County Council.
