Reducing single use in cleaning

Prevention for Householders

Wicklow County Council is tackling the growing use of single use cleaning products designed for individual tasks such as wipes. The Council has made a video highlighting the need to reduce the use of single-use wipes. There has been growing use of cleaning wipes in recent years, not just for kids, but for floors, kitchens, and bathrooms. These are usually synthetic materials that don’t biodegrade and can end up clogging sewers, filling landfills, or generating litter. Apart perhaps from nappy changing, there is almost always a reusable alternative. So, think before you use a wipe – small changes by a lot of people can make a difference.
