Mow, Lift and Compost for Biodiversity

Prevention for Local Authorities

Wicklow County Council aims to adapt the management of grass open spaces allowing biodiversity to flourish while at the same time managing the cut grass, thereby stopping it becoming a waste product removed from the locality. It is implementing a demonstration pilot at a number of sites to cut, lift and compost grass, and reuse locally. An information guide is being developed demonstrating how green space can be managed for biodiversity while also ensuring local recycling of the grass and nutrients.
