Community Paint Reuse Scheme

Prevention for Local Authorities

Cork City and County Councils have initiated a pilot community paint reuse scheme, collecting suitable paint from two civic amenity sites in each local authority area.

For Cork City Council, the pilot project will involve collecting waste paint at the council’s Civic Amenity Site at Kinsale Road. The collected paint will be reused through two social enterprises, one in the city and one in the county, and made available at a much reduced cost to community groups, houses that have undergone energy retrofits, and to the general public.

The social enterprise involved on the Cork City side is Northside Community Enterprise (NCE) in Farranferris, Cork City who will filter, remix, recolour and repackage the paint before selling.
