Kilkenny County Council Holds Schools Water Seminar

Water Conservation Seminar_Speakers & AttendeesAs part of The European Week of Waste Reduction (EWWR), a Schools Water Conservation Seminar was held by Kilkenny County Council to assist schools in lowering their water consumption both by water conservation measures and by providing them with knowledge to determine if their facility was experiencing a water leak.

The Seminar was held in the Springhills Hotel, Waterford Rd, 25th November 2009.

This event coincided with the introduction of metered water charges for educational facilities.

Three short presentations, as follows, were delivered followed by a Q&A Session:

  • Water Conservation in Schools including Water Conservation Study in 6 Kilkenny Schools – Kate Gannon of Ryan Hanley Consultant and Aidan Morrissey Kilkenny County Council
  • Water Charges Programme and 2010 School Charging Arrangements, by Michael Arthurs Kilkenny County Council
  • National Federation of Group Water Schemes Water Education Resource for Schools by Brian McDonald, Research and Development Officer with the National Federation of Group Water Schemes

The event was well attended and greatly appreciated by the schools and the teachers who participated.
