Greening festivals kit

Prevention for Local Authorities

Clare County Council is utilising LAPN funding for the development of a greening festivals kit.

This initiative is part of broader work that the Council has been under undertaking in relation to greening festivals in the county. This has included a green festival training programme, as well as greening of various festivals including the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open in Lahinch in 2019, and the Fleadh Cheoil in Ennis in 2016 and 2017.

The festival kit is planned to have re-usable materials, signage, uniforms, bins and merchandise, that can be shared and used by all festivals of the network in the county. There is also a plan to train volunteers in relation to the kit.

It is also part of the Council’s overall Greener Clare Initiative.

While COVID-19 has interrupted this work, it is hoped that once festivals are back up and running in the future, this initiative can be continued.
