Limerick Household Hazardous Waste Project
Limerick City Council and the Limerick Clare Kerry Regional Waste Management Office have been working with a housing estate in the city to raise awareness about household hazardous waste & to see how difficult it would be to get residents to switch some of their products to more environmentally friendly options.
The project involved awareness raising and training of householders about how to reduce their consumption of hazardous materials and the prevention of subsequent waste, by using more environmentally friendly cleaning options in the home.
Limerick City Council and the Limerick Clare Kerry Regional Waste Management Office used their household hazardous waste guide as a springboard for this work.
The project was facilitated by a Tidy Towns committee and Limerick City Council now plans to roll it out to as many Tidy Town groups as they can in 2013.
