Scheduled for May 5th 2013, this event will see 10,000 runners take to the streets of Limerick cheered on by 30,000 spectators. Greening the run will focus on preventing waste, using compostable disposable products, encouraging smarter travel to and from the event, choosing tap water to prevent waste and encouraging healthy eating and the prevention of food waste during the training period before the run. This initiative is part of the Green Your Festival progamme of LAPN.

From early January there will be a newly created page on the website: www.greatlimerickrun.com with greening tips for all runners and supporters. Other complementary events to the Great Limerick Run will include greening the Run Expo which will be held at the University Arena on 3rd and 4th of May and the Children’s run also at the Arena on May 4th.
