This resource efficiency in business initiative was developed on foot of the involvement of the Southern Region Waste Management Office in greening the Knights of Westfest 2013 (click here for more details). The committee for the festival wanted to offer some support to businesses that had financially supported the festival.
SRWMO conducted Resource Efficiency audits for six businesses in the town including: one hotel, three pubs, two hairdressers & one dental practice.
Waste, water & energy were all considered, and reports were furnished to each business outlining waste prevention and water & energy efficiency potential actions.
In the case of two of the businesses, additional support for energy efficiency measures was initiated via the Limerick Clare Energy agency.
