Galway City and County Councils and GMIT to Host Food Waste Prevention Event

Galway City and County County Councils and GMIT will Host Food Waste Prevention Event in 2018.

This initiative is based a two day event in GMIT (over two weeks) with culinary demonstration and panel discussions designed to highlight food waste as an issue and address solutions. The event will be streamed live.

The relevance to waste prevention I resource efficiency is through creating awareness and further increasing the profile of food waste prevention.

This is a collaborative initiative with Galway City adn County Councils and GMIT and will support businesses, organisations and groups participating in food waste prevention activities. It is anticipated that top chefs from Galway will support the event.

It is anticipated to have a minimum of over 300 attendees. Local media outlets will be used to capture the event and increase profile. It is intended to link this event with the Region of Gastronomy 2018 accreditation
